Maison Gene sells handcrafted rusks and related products. Because products are prepared in batches, availability may be limited and may change without notice.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, pack sizes, ingredients and prices are accurate. Handcrafted products may vary slightly in colour, shape, texture and appearance. These natural variations are not necessarily defects.

Product photographs are provided for presentation purposes. Packaging may change, and decorative or serving items shown in photographs are not included unless expressly stated.

Customers are responsible for reading the ingredient and allergen information displayed on the product page and packaging before consuming or supplying a product to another person.

Maison Gene products may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including wheat or gluten, milk, eggs, tree nuts and other ingredients identified on the applicable packaging.

If you or the intended recipient has a food allergy, intolerance or dietary restriction, please contact Maison Gene before ordering. We cannot guarantee that products are free from traces of allergens handled in the preparation environment unless expressly confirmed in writing.

Adding a product to your cart does not reserve it. An order is submitted when you complete checkout, but the order is only accepted once Maison Gene confirms it and receives successful payment where advance payment is required.

We may decline or cancel an order where:

• a product is unavailable;
• payment is unsuccessful or cannot be verified;
• the delivery information is incomplete or inaccurate;
• an obvious pricing or product-description error occurred;
• we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse or unlawful activity; or
• we cannot fulfil the order for operational or safety reasons.

If we cancel an order after receiving payment, we will arrange an appropriate refund using the available payment method, subject to applicable law and payment-provider processing times.

Prices are displayed in South African rand unless stated otherwise. Any applicable delivery charge will be shown during checkout before the order is submitted.

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout. Payment transactions may be processed by third-party payment providers under their own terms and privacy practices.

If a price is displayed incorrectly due to a technical or human error, we may contact you to confirm whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel the affected order. We will not charge an increased price without your agreement.

Delivery dates are estimates unless Maison Gene expressly agrees to a fixed date in writing. Delays may occur because of courier operations, adverse weather, access restrictions, inaccurate information or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

You must provide an accurate address, contact number and any information reasonably required for delivery. Where delivery fails because the information is incorrect, nobody is available to receive the parcel or access is restricted, reasonable redelivery charges may apply where permitted by law.

Risk in the products passes as provided by applicable consumer law. Nothing in this clause removes any statutory right concerning delivery, loss or damage.

Please contact Maison Gene as soon as possible if you need to cancel an order. We will try to assist if preparation or dispatch has not started.

Once an order has entered preparation or has been dispatched, cancellation may no longer be operationally possible. Any cancellation right, reasonable cancellation charge or cooling-off period will be handled in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and any other applicable law.

Certain statutory cooling-off rights may be subject to exceptions, including exceptions that may apply to food, perishable products, personalised products or goods that cannot safely be resold.

For food-safety and hygiene reasons, we generally cannot accept a change-of-mind return after food packaging has been opened. This does not affect your rights where goods are defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise do not comply with applicable law.

Please inspect your order promptly after delivery or collection. If an item is damaged, incorrect or appears defective, contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide:

• your name and order number;
• a description of the problem;
• clear photographs of the product and packaging; and
• any other information reasonably needed to assess the issue.

Where a remedy is legally due, Maison Gene will provide an appropriate repair, replacement, refund or other remedy in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances of the complaint.

Approved refunds will ordinarily be made to the original payment method. Bank and payment-provider processing times are outside our direct control.

Customers must follow the storage information supplied on the product page or packaging. Unless the packaging states otherwise, rusks should be stored sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat.

Maison Gene is not responsible for deterioration caused after delivery by improper storage, contamination, damaged packaging after receipt or failure to follow the stated product-care instructions.

Do not consume a product after the stated best-before or use-by date where doing so would be unsafe or contrary to the packaging instructions.

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity undertaken through your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not use the website to:

• break any law or infringe another person’s rights;
• introduce malicious software or interfere with website operation;
• attempt unauthorised access to accounts, data or systems;
• submit false, misleading or fraudulent information; or
